Passive & Active RFID Tags

Active RFID Tags have batteries and periodically transmit signals. They are very useful in tracking applications. Active RFID tags have a long range of up to 100 meters, as the battery in them tend to boost their signal strength.

 

Passive RFID tags are dormant till they receive a radio signal. A signal from the receiver can turn them on, and then they send signals that carry information back to the receiver.
